“Pieces of Her” emerged as the final piece in Oluwatosin’s collection just before her first art show, “Journey into Color,” held at the Hellada Gallery in Long Beach, California in February 2023. The inspiration for this artwork was born from a profound and introspective session of listening to neo-soul and R&B music.

In this painting, Oluwatosin aimed to capture the rich tapestry of a woman’s experiences, particularly in the context of love. Using a style that blends elements of expressionism and cubism, she employed different solid colors to symbolize the diverse and intricate emotions and moments that make up a woman’s life.

Each color represents a different facet of her experiences, and the fragmented nature of the composition mirrors the complexities of identity and the challenges faced by women. The act of holding her heart signifies her determination to keep her essence intact despite life’s challenges.
